A Salisbury man was convicted Tuesday for aiding in a Molotov cocktail attack, according to the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office.

Suspected arsonist Gregory L. Washington.

On Feb. 12, the state's attorney's office said Gregory Washington, 63, helped his longtime girlfriend in creating two Molotov cocktails and then drove her to her brother's house, where she threw them at the home.

Investigators discovered Washington's girlfriend, Netisha Black, 38, was in the middle of a dispute with her brother after he inherited their father's car a month and a half before the attack, according to court records.

Documents show the Molotov cocktail attack did not cause any damage to the victim's home in the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Salisbury.

The state's attorney's office said Washington has been found guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree arson and possession of a destructive device.

Washington will remain in custody pending sentencing, according to the state's attorney's office. The court has ordered a pre-sentence investigation and will be scheduling Washington's sentencing hearing in the near future.

Interim State's Attorney Ella Disharoon commended investigators from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office who collaborated with the Salisbury Police Department on the investigation, as well as assistant state's attorney Richard J. Brueckner who prosecuted the case.

Black, 38, is scheduled to head to trial Sept. 20, according to online court records.
